HOW DO I USE CBD PRODUCTS?
All our products come with full dose instructions, making them really easy to use. Our oil drops are taken by holding a few drops under the tongue for a couple of minutes before swallowing. The Absorb range is perfect added to a hot or cold drink, although can be taken directly in to the mouth too. Our topical products are designed to be used on the skin.
WHICH PRODUCT SHOULD I CHOOSE?
Our buyers guide has been created as an easy to understand guide for those who aren’t sure where to start. You can download it by entering your email address here.
Remember – more isn’t always better in the world of CBD, so it’s not about choosing the most expensive product. Starting in the middle of the range is always a good option for first time users if budget allows.
WHY DO YOU PERFORM LAB TESTS?
By verifying the cannabinoid content in our products, we can ensure the quality remains consistent.
Furthermore, if we say there is 500mg of CBD in a product – we can actually prove it. Beware of any brand that cannot do this, which is why buying from individuals on social media is a minefield and a disaster waiting to happen.
We know of a company who purchased 4 CBD oils at an online auction site and none of them contained the stated CBD content.
CBD Oil is a non-psychoactive oil extract taken from the Cannabis (or Hemp) plant. CBD stands for Cannabidiol, one of many cannabinoids found in the plant.
There are estimated to be over a hundred cannabinoids in the plant. We use strains specifically chosen for their naturally high CBD level and quality.
It is important to point out that our products are entirely different from “Hempseed Oil” you can find in many high street stores and online. Whilst our oil is extracted from the plant – “Hempseed Oil” is made by pressing the seeds. Hempseed oil has many fantastic properties, but these are entirely different to CBD Oil.
All our products use full spectrum extracts, but what does this mean?
In Cannabis extract, there are hundreds of cannabinoids, terpenes and other compounds which all make up the plant. Each compound plays a part – as nature intended – in giving the final product its effectiveness and potency (see “what is the Entourage Effect”). When we produce products using all of the compounds present, this is called “full spectrum”.
It is well known and documented that full spectrum products are more effective than “isolate” based products, or even “broad spectrum” CBD oils we are now seeing on the market.
Isolate based products means they use pure CBD – usually around 99% pure. This may sound impressive, but the white isolate powder used is a far cry from anything related to a plant. Isolate products are cheaper to produce and are simply not as effective. If all you can see on a products laboratory report is CBD – with everything else as “ND” (non-detectable) or at 0%, this product uses isolate and is certainly not high quality. There are many brands now claiming to have “full spectrum” because it sounds better, yet their reports show only CBD. We’ll let you make your mind up on that one…
As for “broad spectrum”, this usually means you’ll see a handful of cannabinoids present, but little else. Again, the drawback is these are not as nature intended and do not offer the quality and effectiveness of full spectrum products.
WHAT IS THE ENTOURAGE EFFECT?
The “Entourage Effect” describes the process where all parts of the Cannabis plant work together to increase effectiveness. It is well documented that when single compounds (such as CBD isolate – pure CBD) are used, or an extract too heavily refined, the effectiveness is dramatically reduced.
If you see a CBD oil that looks like water or is clear like olive oil, this is a far cry from how nature intended. Our products may be darker and have a stronger smell than some, that is because we have potency and effectiveness in mind at all times.
An easy example to use would be to look at a team sport such as football, rugby or basketball. Individually, players may be great – but without working together with their team-mates their chances of success are non-existent.
Terpenes are the pungent oils that give Cannabis its taste and smell and more than 100 have been identified. They serve the purpose of repelling predators and attracting pollinators.
Their ability to add flavour is one factor and the other is the fact that each one brings its own important therapeutic properties. It is believed that each terpene plays a different role in the effect of Cannabis.
Some examples of terpenes:
Limonene – can elevate mood
Caryophyllene – can help protect the gastrointestinal tract
Myrcene – can aid sleep
The official definition for bioavailability is:
“the proportion of a drug or other substance which enters the circulation when introduced into the body and so is able to have an active effect"
Put simply, if you take 10mg of something and your body can only effectively absorb 5mg, that would be 50% bioavailable.
Oil based and traditional CBD products have around a 10-12% bioavailability if taken under the tongue. This may sound low, but don’t be alarmed – they are still effective which is a testament to the power of the ingredients.
Swallowing traditional CBD oils, taking capsules or adding them to food & drink means the bioavailability drops to 3-4%, if you’re lucky. In other words, it is not a good idea. For those wanting to add something to a drink or even food – any of our Absorb range are suitable and designed for this.
Products in our Absorb range use a special complex which is already in an “active” state, and therefore can achieve near perfect bioavailability. It is for this reason we consider them our most effective products, as your body can effectively use up to 10 times more of the ingredients.
Yes. All our products are legal, and you should have no concerns.
We advise you to be cautious about who you choose to buy your CBD / Cannabis Oil from. If something looks too good to be true, it usually is. Auction sites are notoriously sketchy, as are individuals on social media platforms who promise to provide you products via their inbox!
If someone is shouting about medical or health benefits of their products this should also set alarm bells ringing. There are no approved health claims for any CBD supplements in Europe, so anyone doing so is selling unlawfully.
At CBD One we are committed to providing high quality products with integrity. We are on hand if you have any specific product questions, or you can download our buyers guide.
WILL I GET HIGH FROM CBD OIL?
No. Our products are non-psychoactive.
CBD is considered exceptionally safe. As we manufacture to extremely high standards and always verify our cannabinoid profile, you can be confident using any of our products.
Beware of any supplier who cannot verify their products; you have no idea what you are consuming otherwise.
We do advise if you have never used CBD before to always start small and work your way up. Furthermore, if you are already taking any form of medication – consult your doctor or healthcare professional beforehand.
Side effects are extremely rare and mild if encountered. Taking too much CBD too quickly may make you feel a little tired or give you loose bowels. If this happens take a little less for a while to allow your body to get used to the CBD.
There are dedicated vape products on the market, but we do not recommend or produce them at CBD One.
While vaping may be better than smoking, to say it is good for your health is probably a bridge too far. We are only interested in improving your wellbeing.
The vast majority of CBD vape products also are made using CBD isolate, which we know is not as effective as using a quality full-spectrum product, which is another drawback. Our advice would be to use a product from our Absorb range which only requires one dose per day and can be added to a drink.
CAN I TAKE CBD TO HELP WITH…?
There are no approved health claims currently for CBD or any cannabinoids, so beware of anyone who makes claims as they are not trading legally or acting with integrity.
Our products are sold as supplements to support health and wellbeing alongside a balanced diet and lifestyle.
When we are asked specific questions, generally we can say that you are okay to try our CBD supplements as they are incredibly safe to use.
For specific health enquiries, please use our Health Advice Service where we can offer lifestyle, diet and wellbeing advice. While we do not make claims regarding CBD – with over 15 years of experience there is usually plenty our health advisor can do to help.
CAN I TAKE CBD WITH MY MEDICATION?
Always consult your doctor or healthcare professional before taking CBD if you are already taking medication. Some studies suggest CBD inhibits the action of cytochrome P450 which is important for removing some medication from your body.
IS CBD OIL SAFE TO USE DURING PREGNANCY?
Whilst many people have or do take cannabinoids during pregnancy, we advise that to be on the safe side you do not take CBD whilst pregnant.
CBD oil is not currently available on prescription in the UK. In fact, given the current political landscape, it is unlikely to become available on the NHS in the near future.
