Nature Never Works Alone
Every plant on earth is a conversation between thousands of molecules.
CBD is just one voice in the chorus of the hemp plant — alongside hundreds of other cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, and minor phytonutrients that evolved to work in synergy. This orchestra of compounds creates what researchers call the entourage effect.

It’s the reason why a truly full-spectrum CBD oil often feels richer, smoother, and more balanced than a bottle made from synthetic CBD isolate. It's analogue over digital, warmth over a cold electronic copy! Nature designed the plant as a team sport — not a solo performance.
We humans cannot resist tinkering with natural perfection that has been refined over countless eons.
The natural intelligence at the heart of the hemp plant should be celebrated and treasured, not refined!
What Exactly Is the Entourage Effect?
The term was first proposed in 1998 by Israeli scientists Raphael Mechoulam and Shimon Ben-Shabat. They observed that the body’s own endocannabinoids (anandamide and 2-AG) worked better when other fatty acids and co-molecules were present. The same applies to plant-derived cannabinoids: CBD acts differently when it co-exists with compounds like CBG, CBN, CBC, and terpenes such as myrcene and limonene.
In plain terms: the whole plant has a built-in intelligence.
Each component supports, buffers, or modulates the others — producing a gentler, more harmonised effect on the endocannabinoid system (ECS).
How It Works Inside the Body
The ECS is our internal balancing network — a collection of receptors (CB1 and CB2), enzymes, and signalling molecules spread throughout the brain, immune system, and organs.
CBD interacts with these receptors indirectly, encouraging efficient homeostasis, this is where our biology oscillates above and below a line that maintains healthy functions. We never reach equilibrium, we oscillate around it!
When CBD is accompanied by other plant compounds:
It’s a bit like an orchestra tuning together, each instrument makes the whole sound richer. Or a jigsaw puzzle where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Synthetic CBD is a single note played too loudly.

The Problem with Synthetic CBD
Synthetic CBD is CBD produced chemically in a laboratory without the rest of the plant matrix.
It is lifeless and has never acquired the natural qualities that sunlight and nature bring to a plant.
While it can be chemically identical to the CBD molecule, the context is missing. There are three main drawbacks:
a) No Supporting Compounds
Without terpenes and minor cannabinoids, synthetic CBD lacks the natural synergy that modulates how CBD behaves in the body.
Users often report a flatter, less balanced effect and scientists note it may require higher doses to achieve similar outcomes.
b) Reduced Bioavailability
Natural oils carry CBD in a lipid environment that helps it pass through cell membranes. Synthetic CBD powders or isolates often don’t dissolve as well, leading to less absorption.
c) Missing the Plant’s Wisdom
Every terpene and co-compound acts like a safety valve, softening CBD’s interaction with certain receptors. Remove those, and you lose that balance.
This is why at CBD One all our products CBD oils and water soluble CBD are full spectrum. Even our CBD balm, Complete, is full spectrum with added botanicals.
We cherish the power of nature.
The only product we have that is an isolate is our patches and that is only because to make a full spectrum patch would simply be too expensive.
Evidence in the Science
Why synthetic CBD appeals to industry and why it’s a mistake
For large pharma or mass manufacturers, synthetic CBD offers control, standardisation, and lower costs.
But the trade-off is purity without personality. An isolated chemical stripped of the plant’s natural context.
It’s like taking vitamin C without the orange.
Consumers increasingly understand this. The trend is moving back toward authentic, traceable, plant-derived CBD with third-party lab verification and a full cannabinoid profile.
In fact, isolate CBD completely misses the point of using CBD. It is a natural product and refining down to an isolate is not nature, it is exactly what pharma does to make a profit, regardless of how effective the end result might be.
The Entourage Effect in Everyday Life
You experience entourage synergy in other foods too:
Nature rarely delivers a nutrient in isolation. CBD is no different.
The same is true of sunlight. It delivers a full spectrum that is healthy whilst energy saving light bulbs deliver a narrow band of primarily blue light that can have negative ffects on us, even though it is one aspect of the full spectrum
How to Identify a True Full-Spectrum Oil
When shopping for CBD products in the UK:
Transparency and testing build trust — something CBD One has championed since day one.
Our Philosophy at CBD One
At CBD One, we believe the future of well-being lies in listening to nature, not overriding it.
The entourage effect isn’t just a scientific phenomenon — it’s a philosophy of wholeness.
Life is not a narrow band of experience and neither is nature or your health. Look to work in harmony with the whole than a cheap short cut to a lesser result.
Wholeness Over Isolation
When we try to outsmart nature, we often lose what makes it work. The entourage effect reminds us that healing and balance come from connection — molecules supporting each other, just as we do.
So next time you reach for CBD, remember this:
You’re not taking a chemical — you’re participating in a living conversation between plant and body.
It may be poetic but it is also true. Observe and embrace nature, she has an intelligence we cannot mimic no matter how hard we try.
